Somethings don't seem to add up. When we were kids we had dozens of other kids to play with on the street. Dorval, Pte Claire, wherever, it was the same across Canada from people I know. Even 40 years ago in Valois there were kids playing outside all the time. Now on my street here in Saanich, and I presume the same there in and around Vancouver, it's rare to see kids out playing. Not just because they're watching videos, but because there aren't that many kids around. It's a fact that modern families are not producing the number of children necessary to even maintain the population of Canada. So, yes, it is a great question to ask - why do we need to build so many housing units for the future? We cannot control the reproductive rate, but can control the number of people we let in from outside the country. If the base rate is negative, we can adjust to suit whatever growth rate we determine to be optimum, by simple immigration policy. That is the bigger question is it not? Must we ruin what is good in order to fulfill somebody's prediction of growth? Based on what? The will of the people, or the questionable aims and plans of bureaucrats who answer to no one?

I wrote every one on council. Only Meiszner responded with a form letter. Meiszner said that he is unable to comment on the plan before the hearing to “ensure I approach the proposal at the Public Hearing with an open mind.” VOTE TEAM!
